PT62-Electronically controlled engines

Course Length Five days
Pre-requisites Persons with a sound diesel engine background, wishing to attain knowledge of the Perkins Electronic Engines range.
Description

The course is aimed primarily at the technician, covering generic subjects relating to electronically controlled Perkins Engines. This course covers the following subjects:

  • Basic circuits to speed control, sensors, engine & application wiring.
  • Fault finding and use of diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and the Electronic Service Tool (EST), are a key part of this course.

ST11-4000 Series engine

Course Length Four days
Pre-requisites Persons with a sound diesel engine background, wishing to attain knowledge of the Perkins Electronic Engines range.
Description

This course will include the explanation of :

  • External features of the engines - engine strip and use of special workshop tools
  • Lubrication system - fuel system - governors -engine rebuild and the use of special workshop tools
  • Failed component analysis - cooling system - turbocharger and induction system

PT31-1100D Mechanical/Electrical

Course Length Four days
Pre-requisites PT62- Electronically controlled engine is required
Description

This course focuses on both mechanical/electrical aspects of the engine. Which includes the following:

  • Partial tear-down/running engine diagnostics
  • Covering fuel system operation
  • Key service procedures
  • Electrical systems knowledge/ troubleshooting

It is specifically suited to technical staff involved with service and repair.

PT21-Applied failure analysis

Course Length Three days
Pre-requisites Persons who are competent with engine assembly, wishing to expand their knowledge. Persons who already carry out failure analysis wishing to enhance their knowledge/experience
Description

However well an engine is designed and manufactured there are instances of parts failure. This course is designed to help people understand the following:

  • Why the failure happened?
  • What caused the failure and report back to customers, managers and manufacturers on the probable root cause of the failure.
